Makawao Town, Maui
For 11 years we had a gallery in Paia. Most of our life was spent in and around Paia Town. One night it caught on fire. In the middle of the night a mystery man named Mr Good just happened to be walking through town. He saw the fire coming from behing the row of old wooden buildings and called the fire department. Noticing it was our gallery... the firemen delicately put out the fire without getting any of my watercolors wet. Miraculously, not one painting was damaged, though the structure itself suffered too much damage for us to stay there. That is when we moved everything up to Makawao.
Now we see clients from our home here in Makawao Town. Since the move, most of my Maui paintings spring from subject matter a short walk from our home on Baldwin Avenue.
In the Hawaiian language, Makawao means "the edge of the forest" or "beginning forest."
Over the following years I've had many opportunities to travel. Working trips have taken me to Paris, Greece, Florida, California, Maine, Pennsylvania, and the New Jersey Shore.
