Gate Keeper by Eddie Flotte
Gate Keeper
It is early morning in very early spring. The tide is rolling in. Gulls keep watch over everything. There are souls they accept and souls they reject. The gulls relay their judgement down the line when I pass. They watch me work and approve. Over time they move closer until finally, I am aware of and honored by their trust. I speak to them often and compliment their incredible beauty and skills in flight. Here a gull guards the cowboy house, ... named so in reference to the brotherhood of cowboy-like outlaws who have bunked here over time, ...those who have rode in from afar and lost blood keeping Grassy intact.— Eddie Flotte
