Fort Washington Crossing
This is another of my very favorite paintings. It captures so vividly exactly how I feel when I'm crossing this bridge. It feels just as if I'm there. As you leave Ambler on your way to Flourtown, Erdenheim, Chestnut Hill, you cross this bridge. Right here you are on the threshold of that world, that mentality, very different from life on the Ambler side of the bridge. That's the way I see it.
Right here you cross over the SEPTA tracks of the Lansdale Local, the train route into Philadelphia. In the distance at the bottom of the hill you see an historic stone building. That is The Clifton House ..site of The Historic Society of Fort Washington.
