I love the look of this little house on the corner of Water Street in Ambler. ... Especially looking past the flags around this small car lot. It looks like an ice cream shop or water ice stand. It sits along one of my alternate routes home from school. Like most of my subjects it grabs me every time I pass it. I can't explain why. When I finish one of these pieces I show it to my sisters who haven't lived in Ambler since around '76. I cover the piece and then before showing it I ask how long it will take them to name the site. They always get it in under about two seconds. I'm drawn to that kind of scene ... an unsung spot that makes an indelible subconscious imprint in the memories of the people passing by. |
