The Broad Axe Tavern in Broad Axe Pa. is currently in limbo.   We used to pass it at the intersection of Butler and Skippack pikes on the way to and from my grandparents.   That is why it stands out as a subject for painterly attention.   It's been vacant for a few years now.   While I was working on it passers-by shouting from their cars wanted to know if it was coming down.   It would be a shame if it did.   It's probably been in business in some capacity since Washington was at Valley Forge.   I don't really know that for sure, it just seems like one of those places.
